Volair awarded Quantum2 with design, space planning and refurbishment work of their Halewood Leisure Centre.
This work coincided with the launch of 'Adventure Cove', a new soft play facility to provide children with a great place to play and 'let off steam' while their parents grab a coffee and a bite to eat. For Volair, this new use of the space opens up new revenue streams, especially for birthday parties!
The Quantum2 interior design team were involved in this project from the very beginning, working with Volair, reviewing architectural drawings to really understand the public space areas following the proposed installation of the four tier 5000 sq ft play area.
We began by finding right balance of furniture and discussing colour schemes, ensuring suitability for a wide demographic of customers and complementary to the over all aesthetics of the building. The underwater/sea scheme had bright primary colours, therefore reds, yellows and blues from the colour wheel would naturally attract children and secondary colours; greens, orange and purple are known to positively affect moods and behaviours.
Where the soft play slides meet the social spaces of the cafe area, we specified lightweight poly cafe chairs in a range of primary colours, these poly chairs would provide safety from any 'over excited' kids and the potential bumps and scrapes within the ground floor level, where play meets eating. This theme of seating was continued into the main cafe areas, along with rounded table tops. In addition to this, rounded soft low stools, again in bright colours, that are easy to move around and allow parents/carers somewhere to sit inside the soft play area. These were supplied in wipte clean, Agua Paint Pot fabric.
To soften the main public space, two other ranges of seating were supplied, again, in the same Agua Paint Pot fabric. Stylish low sofas, naturally where adults migrate to and also high wing back Lux chairs with arms, allowing the older generation to easily get in and out of without assistance.
The other area we helped design was the party/cinema room, equipped with full HD projector and surround sound. Using the same fabrics and colours, seat pads were supplied to low benches, in addition to the flexible flip-top tables on castors. The underwater/sea theme was carried through with wall art.
Any member of staff can reconfigure the room dependant on the requirements of the party, while also allowing the Volair team to hold their weekly management team meetings in comfort. Each tabletop matched in the same slate finish as the main public space.
All products & fabrics specified and installed by Quantum2 were from British manufacturers, carrying at least 5 year warranties.
"This was our third major refurbishment project where we've worked with Quantum2. The Adventure Cove provides the area of Knowsley with a place where children can play within a fun and safe environment. We've had a huge demand for birthday parties on the back of this project, in an area that lacked any kind of facility like this. Seeing the parents and children using Halewood as a place to enjoy themselves and celebrate personal milestones is a reward for all of the project team's hard work. I can't thank Quantum2 enough for their designs, assistance and smooth installations from start to finish."
