Phase 2 of the refurbishment in Bromborough, Wirral, saw Quantum2 being tasked with the design and fit of this 4,000 sq.ft space, which is to be named 'The Hub'.
The Hub is the brainchild of the executive marketing team at RPC who want it to be a flexible space used by RPC employees and a place to provide education on polythene manufacturing processes.
The existing interiors were quite dated as so often is the case when we walk in. To make the space as contemporary as possible involved removal of existing features rather than just “papering over the cracks”. As much as we love the design and refit, we had to make sure we were starting with a blank canvas and so we removed and safely disposed of all Artex ceilings and the like in a fully controlled environment, before removing any walls. Then we could get cracking!
The Quantum2 design team felt The Hub needed a great focal point such as a large decking area. Within the RPC portfolio is a product called 'Plaswood', a remarkable product which is a flexible substitute for wood, concrete and steel. Plaswood can be formed into virtually any shape and is made from 100% recycled plastic. RPC manufacture Plaswood and we knew that a large decked area would be a great way to showcase this revolutionary product.
Three glazed cellular offices were created where each table was fitted with Pluto power modules, providing contemporary connectivity to these meeting rooms and we also installed a large, versatile conference room. The bespoke meeting room table which can accommodate twenty people was fitted with power modules and can be easily reconfigured into twelve and eight person separate tables by using break loading castors. This has future proofed the furniture for when RPC further invest in a bi-folding wall to create two conference rooms.
The conference room was fitted with an interactive, ultra-short throw projector displaying 100 inch in HD.
As you can see from the photos, the carpet tiles reflected our designs from the Phase 1 project, providing consistency in the overall design of both projects and we exactly matched the height of ceilings of Phase 1 with the suspended ceiling installation. LED panels were fitted throughout, with PIR sensors to help with energy management.
This has been a fantastic large project to be involved in but we can turn our hand to large and small projects, full or partial refits. If you would like to update your office space from the 1970s with a company that is reliable and creative, contact us.
