Taraxacum Suspension Lamp by Flos
The suspension lamp Cocoon Taraxacum Piccolo or Cocoon Taraxacum Grande by Flos is a classical luminaire that was released 1960 and is now re-edited. Together with other luminaires also released in the ealy sixties like Fantasma, Viscontea or Gatto (all re-edited today) it used for the first time a new self-skinning material known as "cocoon". It is available in two different sizes and provides a diffused light. It´s shade is made of cocoon and is held by a white powder-coated electrowelded steel frame. It resembles a body, that is produced by larvas of various insects, the most dramatic example being the caterpillars that pupate in the cocoon and turn into beautiful butterflies.
